Hachioji CampusDepartment of Elementary Education Students Extend Warm Welcome to Nanase Special Education School

In a heartwarming exchange of knowledge and camaraderie, Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus played host to students from the Tokyo Metropolitan Nanase Special Education School on Friday, September 22, 2023. Under the guidance of Associate Professor Susumu Nakamura, students from Teikyo's Faculty of Education Department of Elementary Education orchestrated a meticulously planned school tour. This insightful visit marked the second occurrence of this event, responding to a cordial invitation from the Nanasei Special Needs School.

The day unfolded with a warm welcome and a series of engaging quizzes, introducing the Nanase students to the rich tapestry of Teikyo University and the vibrant Hachioji Campus. As the tour progressed, a spirited hunt for the campus mascot, "Teebo", added an element of fun. The journey continued through the bustling student hub, "Soratio Kitchen", and the cutting-edge active learning facility, "ACT Three". The highlight, however, was the panoramic vista from the 18th and 19th floors, offering a breathtaking perspective of the campus surroundings. The sincere efforts of Teikyo students left a lasting impression on their guests from Nanasei Special Needs School. One visitor remarked, "I was happy that all the students spoke to me so kindly," while another shared, "I felt that they had taken the time to prepare for us." This exchange was a profound learning experience for both parties involved. Teikyo students gleaned invaluable insights into professional guidance, witnessing firsthand the dedication of teachers and the interactions with students with disabilities. Such initiatives stand as a testament to Teikyo University's commitment to fostering inclusive education and promoting understanding among diverse communities. The Hachioji Campus eagerly anticipates more such enriching encounters in the future, as bridges of knowledge continue to be built.
