On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, Teikyo University Faculty of Faculty of Economics, Department of Business Administration Associate Professor Takuya Tsukamoto gave a lecture on "Introduction to Sports Management" by Benjamin Wahl, Head of East Asia for the German soccer club Borussia Dortmund. The university signed an academic research partnership agreement with the club in June 2018, giving students the opportunity to learn directly from Dortmund's management know-how.
In this lecture, Mr. Benjamin spoke about his thoughts on the Asian strategy under the theme of "Current situation and challenges seen from the Japan Tour 2024 (Osaka) in Borussia Dortmund's (BVB) Asian strategy," while Mr. Tomohiro Nishiwaki of SPORTFIVE, the exclusive agent for BVB, spoke about his experience in "sports sponsorship sales." Approximately 350 students from our university participated in this lecture, and many questions were asked. Afterwards, an active discussion was held with the facilitator of Associate Professor.
Students who attended the lecture shared their thoughts, saying, "I learned that BVB puts a lot of effort into developing its players, and is a challenger fighting at the forefront of Europe," "It was interesting to see them collaborating with famous brands and manga to gain new fans and to develop their own brand," and "This lecture has made me even more interested in the German Bundesliga and BVB, and I would like to participate in the training program."
